The higgihaus@butestreet (#107) is a huge, funky and totally self-contained boutique bunkhouse located right in the heart of Cardiff Bay that is but a stone's throw (and a short one at that) from the spectacular Mermaid Quay. The location is truly awesome, with more restaurants, bars, pubs & coffee shops on the doorstep than you can shake a stick at. On weekends, the higgihaus@butestreet is made available to groups visiting the City to celebrate milestone events, but during the week, we shit off the bedrooms at the rear and it it becomes a perfect base for a smaller group working in the City.
The huge kitchen/diner contains everything a budding Gordon Ramsey and a team of sous-chefs might need to cater to the hungry hordes. Between the two sitting rooms, chill-out space and kitchen/diner, there's plenty of room for the group to be together, read, listen to music, watch TV (FreeView) or catch a movie (Netflix) on the 55Inch 4K TV or relax and unwind. For the more active (or competitive) members of the group, there’s even a table football and a small pool table set up in the basement.
If outdoors is your thing, then there’s a cool terrace on the first floor in the centre of the bunkhouse replete with obligatory Astroturf and a smattering of bistro tables and chairs, conveniently accessed through a small chill-out space adjacent to Bedroom 2.
In the bedrooms at the front of the house, you'll find 10 single beds (yup, no need to share) and one double, all equipped with mattresses built for comfort, crisp cotton linens and fresh towels. For those members of the group prone to falling out of bed at night, it might be worth avoiding the bunk beds (of which there are three). Toilets (of which there are four), showers (of which there are 3) and a bath (one) are dotted around the bunkhouse (did we say the bunkhouse is huge). We've even included eco-friendly shampoo and body wash if you forget to bring your own (or prefer to use ours). Should the shirt need a press before venturing out, you will find steam irons and ironing boards in the laundry.
PLEASE NOTE: In this configuration, this property will sleep UP to 11. The price quoted is for UP to 6. You'll need to add £50 inclusive of VAT per night for each additional guest.
The Valleys House was acquired by higgihaus in July 2023 and although the bunkhouse has been operating for more than 12 years, Rhodri and Hawys (the previous owners) are prevented by Airbnb from transferring over their 4.8 out of 5 rating and a ton of glowing reviews. So here are a couple to give you a flavour of what past guests have said:
107 Bute Street, Cardiff. Reviews
A fantastic location in Cardiff bay, Rhodri’s house was a brilliant find. A brilliant quirky layout, not expected from the front door. Perfectly suited for the group I was travelling with, Rhodri’s house allowed our large number to completely relax and feel at home. A must to stay in if with a group!

This house is perfect for groups, we had a hen do there and the space couldn't have been better. There was so much space to socialise, all have meals together get ready for a night out. The beds were very comfortable and everything we could have needed was supplied in the kitchen. The location was also handy to get into the city centre but we never felt like we had to worry about any neighbours.
